Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej currently Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born on November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to receive a score of 10 at the Olympic competition. Comaneci was spotted by Bela Karolyi who was later her Romanian gymnastics instructor when she was just six years old. The first time she competed was at The National Junior Championships which she was 13th place in the year 1969. In 1970, Comaneci took home the title. At her first international competition in 1972, she came out on top with three gold medals. In her first international competition as a senior in 1975 she beat out Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva, a five-time European champion, winning four gold medals and one silver. In 1976, she took home the American Cup at the New York City Olympics. She also was the first female ever to remove the parallel bars with backwards double salto. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. When she was a teen she began her career in the entertainment industry performing as figure skater. With her sister Nina Wayne she was part of a show that traveled called Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne is a US citizen born September 6, 1942, in Chicago Illinois. Carol started her career in the entertainment business as a teen. When she was a child she was the figure skater alongside Nina Wayne in the travelling entertainment program Ice Capades. It featured dramatic ice-skating shows.
