Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actor, dancer and singer since the early 1990s. Her initial performances on Broadway include the musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. For her role as Essie In You Can't Take It With You she was awarded the Tony Award. Tony Award-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford is a veteran of the majority of her career collaborating with acclaimed actors and directors across the stage, film and TV and she is continuing her award-winning project with various upcoming ones. Ashford will be next in the role of Kumail Nanjiani in the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford is currently working for Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust which stars Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The movie will air on Disney DTC in the form of it becomes a Hulu Original. Ashford will be returning in 2023, and will play opposite Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in the return of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will direct the production. Ashford was Paula Jones, the main character in Ryan Murphy's new FX program American Crime Story Impeachment. It is based upon the crisis which swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp as well as other main actors into the very first impeachment proceeding in America in more than a century. Her two seasons on CBS show B Positive was her first significant character. The show was developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the legendary Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not unfamiliar with Broadway won both Tony Drama Desk Awards as well as Outer Critics Circle Awards in her character of Essie. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the original role of Lauren In Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway credits. Ashford was born and raised in Denver and currently splits her life between Los Angeles, and New York.
